The story revolves around Nilofer. A shy and gentle woman of humble background. She got married when she was 19 to Ajaz, who was 39. They lived in a joint family consisting of her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and two children.

Her mother-in-law, Rubeena, was in her 60s and was quite orthodox. On the other hand, Anjum, who was Nilofer’s sister-in-law, was a modern woman, growing up with a proper education. She was in her early 20s and was Nilofer’s closest friend in the household.

Nilofer had a 4-year-old daughter, Jannat, and 2 a 2-year-old boy, Amir. Nilofer, having given birth to two children, wasn’t the leanest, but she wasn’t fat either. She was curvy but in a good way. Having played local sports growing up, she was fairly fit.
